The parade of floats, nowadays known as Carrousel Costa Brava, is something not born just few years ago but it comes from many years ago, even many years before the end of the last century. The big industrial activity cork in Palafrugell, place located about 18 Km. from the Station) brought a unique festive and cultural movement to the Catalan counties.

Several months before the Carnival date, our parents and grandparents living in Palafrugell, friends and neighbors, work hard self-making real a float, whose design was just born in their mind.

This Carnival reached such demonstrations during the dictatorship, which was specifically prohibited by the Franco regime considering that it violated the established morality and decency.

However, the most active Palafrugell men’ stubbornness, could start a similar look of this forbidden Carnival, with a new name: Festes de Primavera (spring festivals), and this new stage was celebrated the second Passover’s Mondays. On its first times, these spring festivals were only the floats parade.

Few years later, this event was several days extended, while some conferences, recitals and popular acts to fill these days until the final parade, the end of the party.

Nowadays and since few years ago, the Festes de Primavera  is composed by ten crowded scheduled days, where local people and visitors coming from anywhere around Palafrugell can choose the spectacle they like best. But between all the, the main one is the parade, about twenty floats almost all made  in Palafrugell, and almost the number of groups coming from any site of Catalunya (Catalonia), moreover music and animation bands.

In this area moves the parade of floats, which shows to the public an over than six months of hard job, born on the nation’s hands, who collaborate tirelessly making bigger the event. This is its value, this is the difference between the Festes de Primavera and other imported spectacles.
