Two photographs,
two landscapes, but both of the same place. They are separated by only 10 seconds, those
ten seconds when explosives changed 47 years of an exclusive landscape
that made Platja de Pals so different from any other stretch of beach
in the area. This was a stretch of beach that always attracted quality
tourism, persons, families, and groups looking for culture, not just
water, sand and sun. But no longer. Now, this once singular beach
front is like all the rest, reverting to what many in the area wanted, a
place without a museum, without history, without quality. It is no longer
the Platja de Pals the rest of us wanted. Now, it is nothing more
than water, sand, and sun.
