This is the Master control section. In the beggining it was in the middle of the main corridor until 1993, when the Ampex room was converted in the new Master Control, including all the services, since processing digital audio coming from satellite system until sending it to the transmitter to broadcast. Automation of the Master Control Room, of course, meant that costly operator errors were eliminated once and for all. Any mistake made here led  to a big loss of resources because operating the largest aerials, the most powerful transmitters meant absolutely nothing absent RFE/RL programming and/or selection of the correct transmitter/antenna combination, etc.
