On
March 23th, 1959, at 3:05 a.m., local time, this Telefunken transmitter
made the very first broadcast ever made from this station. The transmitter
employed a temporary rhombic antenna and derived its power from a diesel-driven
generator. The transmitter was protected by canvas because the building
was still unfinished. The Telefunken was a powerful 100KW transmitter and,
according to what I heard, its tuning system was semiautomatic.
When
I began to work here, this transmitter already had been replaced by the
Marconi unit. Most of the photografies do not have explanation due to I
ignore what they are, but in the next weeks and being helped by an ex-companion,
it will be done as the others transmitters. |
